The agreement between you and us for using Cord, written to be read.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and HopeBegins Today Organization (“we”, “us”) about your use of Cord — the app on iPhone, Android and the web, and this website. By creating an account or using Cord, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Cord.
You are responsible for keeping your password and recovery code safe, and for activity under your account. Because your marriage’s records are encrypted on your device, we cannot reset your access to them. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, those records cannot be recovered, and we are not responsible for that loss. Tell us straight away at hello@cordedmarriages.com if you think someone else has used your account.
Every marriage starts with seven weeks of everything in Cord and 500 MB of storage, free. After that, the weekly check-in and everything in Faith stay free, for good.
Nothing is deleted for not paying. Everything already written stays readable, and the weekly check-in and Faith keep saving. The rest of Cord waits until you subscribe again.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google. Cancel it in your store settings as well.
What you write and upload stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, encrypt it, sync it between your devices, and show it to you and to the people you share it with. Most of it we cannot read at all; the exceptions, including circles, are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Cord includes spaces shared with other couples. In circles, and anywhere others can see what you write, you agree not to:
Circle leaders agree to use what couples share with them only to care for those couples. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Cord helps couples talk honestly and build habits together. It is not marriage counselling, therapy, or medical, financial or legal advice, and the insights it shows are observations to talk about, not diagnoses. Circle leaders are not acting as licensed professionals unless they tell you so. If you or anyone in your home is in danger, contact your local emergency services.
Scripture in Cord is quoted from the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Devotionals, prompts, challenges and rewards are offered for encouragement; rewards are subject to the conditions shown with each one and to availability.
We keep improving Cord and may add, change or remove features. We will give notice of changes that materially reduce what you have paid for. We may occasionally pause the service for maintenance.
You can stop using Cord and ask us to delete your account at any time — see Delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, or where the law requires it, and where it is reasonable we will tell you first.
We work hard to keep Cord safe and available, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties beyond those the law requires. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for data that cannot be recovered because a password and recovery code were lost. Our total liability for any claim relating to Cord is limited to what you paid us for Cord in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be limited.
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. We, not they, are responsible for Cord and its content, its maintenance and support, and any claims relating to it. If you downloaded Cord from the App Store, you may use it on Apple devices you own or control as the App Store’s Usage Rules allow, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms who may enforce them. Your use of the App Store or Google Play is also governed by their own terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. Any court proceedings will be brought in the courts of the Philippines, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them there.
If we change these Terms, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Cord after that means you accept the updated Terms.
